For suitable clients, adding the Exo Booster may help reduce the visible recovery period to approximately 2 days, depending on individual skin condition, treatment intensity, and response.

Microneedling is designed for clients age 22 and up only.

Microneedling Contraindications

Your safety and skin health come first. Microneedling may not be suitable for everyone. A consultation and skin assessment are completed before treatment to determine whether the service is appropriate for you.

      Microneedling may be postponed or contraindicated if you have:

• Active acne breakouts, open wounds, cuts, or skin infections in the treatment area

• Active cold sores or other contagious skin conditions

• Active rash, eczema, vitiligo, or psoriasis

• Significant skin irritation, sunburn, or compromised skin barrier

• Pregnant or Breastfeeding

• A history of abnormal or excessive scarring, including keloids

• Recent cosmetic procedures, resurfacing treatments, or injectable treatments in the area

• Certain medications or medical conditions that may affect healing or increase the risk of complications (Blood Thinners)

• Immunocompromised clients

• Numerous skin tags, moles, or other raised skin lesions in the treatment area. Microneedling should not be performed directly over these areas, and treatment may not be recommended depending on their number, location, or appearance.
• Any condition or circumstance that makes microneedling unsuitable according to your professional skin assessment
• Please inform us of all relevant medications, skincare treatments, recent procedures, allergies, and skin concerns before your appointment. When necessary, we may recommend postponing treatment or obtaining medical clearance from your healthcare professional.

Before Your Microneedling Treatment

To help prepare your skin for treatment:

      3–5 days before your appointment

• Avoid intentional tanning and excessive sun exposure.
  

• Follow any personalized pre-treatment instructions provided by your skin therapist.

     Before your appointment

• Avoid Accutane in the six months prior to beginning your treatment sessions. Check with your prescribing physician.
• Allow 14 days after injectable treatments (neuromodulators or dermal fillers) prior to your procedure
• Do not use topical agents that may increase the sensitivity of your skin such as retinoids, exfoliants, topical antibiotics or hydroxy acids 3-5 days prior to your treatment
• Avoid IPL/Laser procedures, unprotected sun exposure, or sunburn for at least 2 weeks prior to your procedure
• No waxing, depilatory creams, or electrolysis to the area being treated for 5 days prior
• Do not shave the day of the procedure to avoid skin irritation
• Do not experiment with new products before the treatment
• Arrive with clean skin whenever possible.

• Avoid applying makeup or heavy skincare products immediately before treatment.

• Let us know about any changes in medications, skincare products, or your skin condition.

Your skin will be professionally cleansed and assessed before treatment.

After Your Microneedling Treatment

Your skin may appear temporarily red, warm, tight, sensitive, or slightly swollen following treatment. Mild dryness or flaking may also occur as the skin recovers. Individual recovery varies depending on your skin and the treatment performed.

     First 24 Hours

• Avoid applying makeup until the redness and sensitivity of the treated area have completely subsided. This allows the skin to recover properly and helps minimize the risk of irritation. 

• Cleanse your face 6 hours after treatment or before bed time with a gentle Gel Based cleanser and tepid water

• Use Pro Restore Only after the treatment

• Apply a physical (mineral) sunscreen with SPF 30+ during the day if you need to go out on the next day

• Avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, steam rooms, saunas, and activities that cause significant sweating and sun exposure up to 72 hours after.

• Avoid active skincare (including AHA/BHAs, exfoliants, Vitamin A, Retinol etc for the next 14 days)

• Do not pick or peel skin during the healing process.

Days 2–7

Dermalogica PRO Restore can be incorporated into your post-treatment routine to support skin recovery. Dermalogica's professional protocol recommends using PRO Restore morning and evening for 2-5 days following PRO Microneedling.

• Continue using PRO Restore (2-3 drops) twice a day (morning & evening).

• Apply physical sunscreen with SPF 30+ as directed once your skin therapist advises that it is appropriate.

• Avoid picking, peeling, or manually removing any flaking skin.

• Avoid exfoliating acids, retinoids, scrubs, and other potentially irritating active ingredients on your skin for 14 days

• When no more redness shown on your face you can put makeup on

Sun Protection

Sun protection is an important part of post-treatment care. Protect your skin from direct sun exposure and follow your recommended SPF routine to help minimize irritation and support your skin while it recovers.
